Meet Rene and Joanne Proulx!
Here at Sargent Farms we understand that you want to know where your food comes from. We’re proud of the people and families who grow our product, and are excited for you to meet them through these Farm Feature stories which highlight how our local, fresh food makes its way from their family to yours.
Joanne Proulx and her family have a long history with farming, and now her husband Rene is along for the ride! Rene and Joanne purchased their farm from Joanne’s parents and have made thoughtful updates to the the barns, home, and property. It makes both of them proud to work the same piece of land she’s lived on her whole life.
Joanne and her family started as dairy farmers, but her and Rene decided to pivot into chicken farming as it fit better with their lifestyle. Truly a family unit, with the support of their daughter and both of their adult sons pitch in to help their parents whenever needed, proving the family business will
continue to be in good hands for more generations.
The care of their birds is front and center to each choice Joanne and Rene make around the farm. When building their new barns, they installed evaporations pads which hold a substantially lower temperature on hot days, keeping the birds cool and comfortable. They are also committed to giving back to their community, donating and participating in events for the Sakura Hospice in Woodstock and local food banks.
The Proulx’s are a passionate farming family, and are thrilled to give our customers a glimpse at their piece of the Sargent Farms partner puzzle. The extra thought and care they put into their day-to-day operations, the well-being of their chickens, and their investment in their local community are just a few reasons we at Sargent Farms are proud to partner with the Proulx’s and bring the fruits of Rene and Joanne’s family farm to your tables.
