Here at Sargent Farms we understand that you want to know where your food comes from. We’re proud of the people and families who grow our product, and are excited for you to meet them through these Farm Feature stories which highlight how our local, fresh food makes its way from their family to yours.
Meet Bryan and Jen Fieldhouse!
Bryan Fieldhouse comes from a long line of dairy farmers, including his father who brought him into the business and taught him the lifestyle. After his father’s passing, Bryan decided to take over the family farm and expand it into a modern, fully functioning chicken farm. Affording Bryan and his wife Jen more freedom to spend time with their four kids, Alexis (11), Brooke (9), Rubie (8), and Bruce (6), chicken farming has proven to strike just the right balance for their busy lifestyle.
When Bryan and Jen decided to start chicken farming, they jumped in with both feet. To start, they committed to taking their birds into account every step of the way. They built brand new barns and installed heat exchangers to minimize their farm’s footprint on the environment. They also realized the importance of being active members of the larger farming community; Bryan is a District Committee Representative for the Chicken Farmers of Ontario, and through this role offers a helping hand to fellow farmers in need. The Fieldhouse’s also donate to local food banks and Jen is on the PTA at their children’s school.
Bryan and Jen are a unified team, which we at Sargent Farms consider to be the true definition of a farming family. Between their children’s extracurricular activities, taking care of their birds and making an impact in their local community, they’re just the kind of people we look for in a farm partner: focused, loving and committed to the health and wellbeing of their family and farm.
